Antipodean SF: Anthology 1This is a selection of short-short (500 word and under) short stories which appeared in the Australian online magazine Antipodean SF during 1998 and 1999. ElectroplasmElectroplasm is the second anthology of work by members of the Dunedin Writers' Intensive Care Group, the writing group I belonged to before I moved to Wellington in 1993. We'd sold all the copies of the (now sadly unavailable, except in selected libraries) What on Earth, so we decided to invest the money in Electroplasm. It sold well, too, and each contributor to the two anthologies was paid.Electroplasm was edited by me, with cover artwork by Alice Peattie and interior artwork by Alice, Dan McCarthy, and William Levack. There's fiction and poetry by Alice, Dan, C. H. Clark, James Benson, James Dignan, William Levack, Kay Dignan, Jonathan Depree, and myself. The title of the anthology was selected after an intensive brainstorming session. Rejected titles included Message in a Klein Bottle, Watchers on the Kilmog, and The Art of Sensual Rugby. A full list is preserved for posterity in the Foreword to the anthology. 72 pp. A5 with card cover Price: NZ $ 5.00 plus p&p (=$1.00 within NZ) Email timjones@actrix.co.nz to order. Elder SignsElder Signs is an anthology of Cthulhu Mythos tales edited by Gary Thomas and produced by CEP in Prince George, BC, Canada. My story The Temple in the Matrix takes H. P. Lovecraft's Elder Gods out of their comfort zone and plonks them down in cyberspace, where they soon get up to their usual tricks of world domination etc. etc. Can our hero, who's plainly read Neuromancer far too many times, stop them before they dominate again? (Note: this story was spawned when Keanu Reeves was best known for Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, and is not connected with that or any of his subsequent films.)72 pp. with (stunning) wraparound cover and gold lettering Price: NZ $ 15.00 + p&p (=$1.00 within NZ) Email timjones@actrix.co.nz to order. Australian CrawlThis isn't fiction. This is real life. From the shores of Port Phillip Bay to the halls of the Southern Cross Hotel, Melbourne, Australian Crawl tells the story of the 1994 FFANZ (Fan Fund of Australia and New Zealand) trip taken by yours truly and his partner Kay to the Australian National Science Fiction Convention. Includes digressions on Bruce Chatwin, William Gibson, and the art of loading cameras.
Price: NZ $ 5.00 + p&p (=$1.00 within NZ). Proceeds to FFANZ. Email timjones@actrix.co.nz to order. Email me at timjones@actrix.co.nz |
